Bugcrowd wanted the branding for this project to be targeted towards a younger crowd of researchers. We created a program logo that would embroider and print with relative ease, be recognizable, and relate back to their company’s branding.

The first SWAG items for the program were a pin, patch, and t-shirt. Based off of an inspiration deck, Bugcrowd wanted the pieces to stand out in a crowd. First I designed a few rough “thumbnail” designs to get a better sense of the direction we would be moving towards. After some discussion about the concepts, elements, etc, I knew what needed to be done. I decided to use bold colors, line work, and a style inspired by today’s streetwear. The background used in the t-shirt and patch designs were originally suppose to represent a topographic map. The goal was to use Yosemite National Park, since Bugcrowd is based in California, as the inspiration for the map. However, when applying the design, it did not flow the way we had initially wanted. It was scrapped for a handmade piece that better flowed throughout the piece.

After the designs were completed and approved, Abuv also facilitated production on the patch and pin. I worked with a few key vendors of ours to make sure the quality of the product would be of a high standard. I chose a nickel metal, to keep the light outlines, for the pin. Pantone colors were giving to the vendor as well to match up properly, so that the pieces would still feel cohesive across the board. I also wanted to make sure the patch looked very clean, so I elected for merrow stitching be applied to the edge.
