The goal for this action packed scene was to make a comic book style design for the Bugcrowd team to use for promotion at upcoming events and conventions. The plan was to use two of the characters we’ve already designed and create two more in a similar aesthetic, all to fight against the monstrous bugs plaguing their world. Working closely with our illustrator, we gave a few different compositions to our client that reflected the Golden Age of comics. We eventually landed on the current composition, with the focus being on our heroic four.

Two of our characters already had colors associated with them, as many comic characters do, so we decided to also give our two nameless heroes their own colors, and with that, their own abilities. I illustrated the custom text for “Bugcrowd” as the comic book name and art directed the illustration.

The design was developed with screen printing in mind. We had to make sure highlights and shading could be used while also limiting the amount of colors. Half-tone shading was implemented to give the effect of shadows and depth, allowing for a fully dynamic piece.
