The MVP program consists of the best researchers at Bugcrowd. The program needed to reflect a brand inspired by individuals at the top of their fields: pro athletes, musicians, and artists. With the development of a logo and swag incentives, we collaborated with the Bugcrowd team to create high quality designs for use on high quality products.

The project started with some brand exploration. In our discussions with Bugcrowd, we knew they wanted this branding to show off that its members were the highest tier of white hat hackers around. One of the problems we needed to solve was how to communicate this elite nature of the program without using overplayed tropes and cliches.
We landed on a sporty style that could be easily adapted for different purposes, with the the pattern and colors mimicking ’90s streetwear. I consulted Bugcrowd on production of the MVP hat, recommending a 3D puff embroidery to be used, so the logo stands off the hat nicely. For the t-shirt, I designed it to be reminiscent of Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe art pieces which, while not from the ’90s, really helps show off the bright and bold colors.
Bugcrowd wanted the jacket to be a bit more understated compared to the t-shirt, so I hand draw the custom text, and while initially exploring a variety of colors, eventually decided to keep it monochromatic with white and light grey.
We had two final pieces to create. Designed with the hat in mind and keeping to the black on black theme, I created a fairly simple piece to be embroidered on a rad Patagonia bag. Lastly, I laid out branded labeling onto the WASD Keyboards’ 87 key build with a subtle background for these custom printed keyboards.
